About Andy Whitney

Andy has been an early childhood educator for more than 45 years, but at heart, he still sees himself as a teacher who loves working with young children and the people who guide them. Originally from the United States, Andy’s career has taken him around the world—living and working in Algeria, Peru, Indonesia, South Korea, and Singapore. Over the years, he has taught in early childhood classrooms, led schools as a headmaster, spent time training teachers and provided seminars and workshops to parents of young children.

Andy earned his degree in Child Development from the University of Maine and later completed a Master’s in Education at Harvard University. But he’ll tell you that some of his greatest lessons have come from the children, parents, and teachers he’s had the privilege to work with along the way.

Now splitting his time between the U.S. and Indonesia with his wife, Andy continues to be inspired by the joy and curiosity of young learners. Their daughter lives and works in Washington, D.C., and remains a constant reminder of the adventure and love that family brings to every stage of life.
